Carrier Oils & Vitamin "E"

Carrier oils also called “Fixed oils or Base oils” form an important part of aromatherapy. These are the oils that that you combine your essential oils with so they can be applied directly to your body. With few exceptions, lavender and tea tree, essential oils are too strong to apply directly to the body and must be diluted. This is true for potions, synergy blends, prepared products and massage oils. The choice of the carrier oil depends on the application as well your skin conditions. If the essential – carrier oil blend is used for therapeutic purposes any oil will generally suffice. If the blend is to be used as massage oil then it’s wise to select a carrier oil suitable for your skin conditions i.e. dry, normal or oily. We have included Vitamin E in this category, as it is an important additive to ensure that your carrier oils will remain fresh and not turn rancid. It’s a good idea to store unused carrier oils in the refrigerator to extend their shelf life.
